Even I found Punjabi (Indian) Langpack for Windows Vista after a year of its release, but finally failed to install it . Windows Don’t know
how to install it (while run first time), later it use ‘Language pack installer’ to install, while using that, it showing Dialog Window
“Select Languages to install” and not able to select LIP_pa-IN.mlc,
even I extract mlc pack, then also it is not working.
What was issue?
64-bit, you can’t install it on Windows 64-bit version at all
Message is below on Website
This website is too bad that I can’t change webpage in English proper, while I select “English” and press Change, it is showing
me following
to text is in Sinhala, instead of English.
So what Microsoft is doing, I don’t know. and Why I m not
using my Language if I have 64-bit version?
What is MUI?
Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI)->MUIs require a license to be used and are only available with Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise.
What is LIP?
LIPs (Language Interface Pack) are freely available to download
LIPs require at least one parent language
Following South Asian/Indian Languages are available:
Assamese
Bengali (India)
Bengali (Bangladesh
Gujarati
Hindi
Kannada
Konkani
Malayalam
Marathi
Nepali
Oriya
Punjabi
Sinhala
Tamil
Telugu
Thai
Urdu
--------
Good Languages list, but it is hard to use and very limited
as only 32-bit user can use, then also, it is not completed.
So, Windows is no where to compare with Language Support
for Indian Language with Linux. Compare to Windows
(for Indian Language Support):
1) Installer in Indian Language (Complete Translation)
2) Default you will get MUI with all Linux. You can
change language anytime
3) Language Installation and remove is very easy. With
Single install Keyboard layout, translation available.
